Tuesday Read The American Revolution in Chapter 22 of The Story of the World. After the first reading, give a narration to a parent. After the narration, answer the questions in the History Notebook. Color Student p69 (optional) Do the map work (p68): 1. Great Britain wanted to pay for the Seven Years' War, so they taxed the colonies. The colonists were unhappy with the taxes, so the British sent more soldiers to the colonies. Draw an arrow from Britain to the northern part of the colonies (near Boston). Above the arrow, write "taxes" and "soldiers." 2. The taxes generated much income for Great Britain. Draw a green arrow from the colonies back to Britain. Over the arrow, draw a dollar sign ($). 3. In protest to the taxes, sixty colonists in Boston dumped 342 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor. Next to Boston, draw a small tea cup. 4. Great Britain sent 30,000 more soldiers to New York. You've already drawn a line from Great Britain to the north part of the colonies. Have another arrow come from the middle of this line, toward New York. Under the arrow, write "30,000 soldiers." 5. The colonists, with the help of the French, surrounded the British troops at Yorktown. Draw a small ship at Yorktown and color it blue.
