Tuesday Read The Holy Roman Empire, pages 15-18, of The Story of the World.* After the first reading, give a narration to a parent. After the narration, answer the questions in your History Notebook. Narrations are outlined on the attached hand-out. We will use this notebook during each class. The student history notebook will be graded on neatness, completeness, accuracy and organization. The student should complete the answers with a pencil when completing the homework questions. If an answer needs to be corrected, it is easily done when the work is in pencil. Optional Color Charles V p2 Wednesday Read The Riches of Spain, pages 19-22, of The Story of the World.* After the first reading, give a narration to a parent. After the narration, answer the questions in the History Notebook. Do the map work: (p1) 1. Charles inherited the thrones of the Netherlands, Spain, and Germany. Outline the borders of these countries in purple. Next lightly shade each country in purple. 2. Charles hired the "German Fury," which marched down to Rome and burned it. Draw a purple circle around Rome. 3. From Charles, Philip inherited Spain, the Netherlands, and the Italian lands. Use a pen and draw a black P in the center of each of those three countries. (The Italian lands were on the same peninsula as Rome. Draw a P on the Italian peninsula.) 4. From Charles, Ferdinand inherited France and Germany. Draw a black F in the center of those two countries. 5. Philip II wanted gold from South America. With a yellow pencil, trace the path that the Spanish took to South America (from Spain to South America). Then outline South America with yellow. Optional: Color a conquistadore p3 Thursday On Thursday Buttress Days, students will be completing various activities that add to the weekly reading. They will also continue the timeline. Add any activities this week about this chapter. Parent Responsibility: Make sure that the student has completed his/her homework.
